NCYP 130: Animals and the Environment (Grades K-2) $346.00
Grades K-2: Animals have been the inspiration for many artists. In this course students will explore animals and their habitats, identify natural and geometric forms in nature in order to use this as inspiration for their art. Young artists will consider how animals play a part in our relationship to nature and how we treat wildlife and the environment. Rooted in observation, and imaginative thinking students in this course will think of ways to better care for animals in the environment and create art using clay and recycled materials to learn how art can be beneficial to the world around them.

NCYP 132: Visual Storytelling (Grades 3-5) $346.00
Grade 3-5: This course offers students the opportunity to be both creator and performer! Students will explore a variety of 2-D and 3-D processes as they create books, objects, puppets and masks that can be incorporated into an original narrative. In addition to generating ideas and creating characters, students learn how images and props can be used to tell a story. Emphasis is on creating a unique and expressive language of object, gesture, and story, with equal attention given to the artistic/visual qualities of the art objects themselves and the purposeful use of these objects in student-designed performances.

NCYP 173: Clay for Little Hands (Grades K-2) $346.00
Grades K-2: Nowhere is there a medium more malleable and versatile than clay. Intended for our youngest artists and framed within an energetic context of play, tactile experiences, exploration and discovery, this course is intended to get students immersed in working creatively to create forms, apply textures, and consider the varieties of surface effects with glaze. Students will extrude, roll, press, mold, shape, squeeze, pinch, and drape clay in unusual ways to create beautiful, artful clay objects within the themes of community, nature and play. Once familiar with the basic characteristics, possibilities and limitations of clay, students will find that the options are virtually endless!

Grades 6-8: Have you ever taken so many pictures at once, that when you scroll through them they look like they're animated?! From Wallace and Gromit to LEGO movie, animators have told many stories through paper, clay, and pixelation. In this course students will explore ways to tell their own stories and make their images come to life one frame at a time.

NCYP 234: Poetry and Visual Art (Grades 6-8) $346.00
Grade 6-8 For some artists, poetry inspires visual art and visual art can inspire poetry. In this course students will write poetry, draw and paint. By investigating different mediums they will make decisions on how best to convey the words of their poems in a visual format. Students will work in themes, creating individual work that amplifies their voices and sends a message to the viewer both visually and auditorily.
