NCYP 313: Drawing the Figure (Grades 9-12) $495.00
Grade 9-12: In this course, students will draw from a live model as they investigate the human form. Students will use various 2D drawing media as they work through a progression of drawings that investigate how different approaches to the figure can address mood, and emotion. From fast paced gesture drawings to intermediate poses, students will produce a portfolio of figure drawings that range in style from traditional to more contemporary and conceptual approaches that embody a student's personal artistic vision.

Grades 9-12: This course is designed to help students refine their skills in observational drawing and making purposeful choices about lines, form, and value. Students will experiment with various drawing materials, such as charcoal and graphite, as they learn to make decisive lines in their work. Art exemplars will be used to emphasize the incredible diversity of styles and expressiveness that can be achieved with color, line, and texture.

NCYP 336: Illustration: Intro to Digital Drawing (Grades 9-12) $495.00
Grades 9-12: In this course students will explore essential skills in digital drawing using Adobe Illustrator. They’ll learn to navigate the interface, use basic brush tools, work with layers, and explore color palettes. Through fun, hands-on projects—like creating layered landscapes, digital self-portraits, and original cartoon characters—students will gain confidence in using digital tools to express their creativity. This foundational course sets up students with the basics they’ll need to advance in digital art.

Grades 9-12: In this course, students will analyze their favorite comic strips and graphic novels, drawing inspiration from a variety of sequential artists who work with different materials. Starting with the development of compelling storylines, students will then create unique characters and hone their skills in engaging readers through sequential illustrations, storytelling, and imagery. Throughout the course, they will enhance their abilities in both observational drawing and imaginative character and story creation, fostering creativity and self-expression.

Grades 9-12: In this course, students will discover how to showcase their creativity and start to design a personal brand. Students will explore the basics of branding by creating a simple logo, choosing colors and fonts, and putting together a style that represents their personality and interests. Using digital formats, students will learn how to customize templates, experiment with design tools, and create an engaging start to a brand that stands out. Whether for a personal project, school club, or future portfolio this course guides students to discover their uniqueness and transfer that to visually appealing designs.

Grades 9-12 In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of designing characters specifically for animation. Through guided exercises, they will develop original characters by exploring personality, proportion, expression, and silhouette. Students will create model sheets that include front, side, and back views, building the foundation for consistency in animation. The course culminates in bringing their character to life through short animated movements, allowing students to explore how design choices influence motion and storytelling.
