Course Description

SCHEDULE INCLUDES -- Before Care 8:00 - 9:30 am; Morning Class-time 9:30 am - 12 noon; Supervised Mid-day activities 12 noon - 1:00 pm; Afternoon Class-time 1:00 - 3:30 pm; After Care 3:30 - 6:00 pm. Art Adventures Grades K-2. Taking an imaginary journey through the pyramids of Egypt, a medieval castle, the palaces of Europe and the far east, or a village in Africa, Students learn about ways in which people from different times and places use their art to communicate their interests and values. Studying the similarities and differences of art forms from various cultures can reveal how people live and the things that are important to them. Students use the experience of their journey and their study of the art from these places as inspiration to create work and become aware of their own living adventures.

NCSP ES305: Early Summer One Week Session Grades 3-5, Location: St. Paul's School $535.00

Course Description

SCHEDULE INCLUDES -- Before Care 8:00 - 9:30 am; Morning Class-time 9:30 am - 12 noon; Supervised Mid-day activities 12 noon - 1:00 pm; Morning Class-time 1:00 - 3:30 pm; After Care 3:30 - 6:00 pm. Painting Workshop Grades 3-5. For the student who loves to paint, this course is designed to help students refine their skills in observing color, making purposeful choices about color, and painting from life. Students will experiment with acrylics, temperas and watercolors as they learn to mix cohesive color palettes and apply both realistic and expressive color to their pieces. Works from past and contemporary artists will be used to emphasize the incredible diversity of styles and expressiveness that can be achieved with color.

Course Description

SCHEDULE INCLUDES -- Before Care 8:00 - 9:30 am; Morning Class-time: 9:30 am - 12 noon; Mid Day Activities: 12 noon - 1:00 pm; Afternoon Class-time: 1:00 - 3:30 pm; After Care 3:30 - 6:00 pm.
Special Vessels in Clay Grades: 6-8. People from every part of the world use clay for such creations as magical and secretive vessels, special guardian or protective figures, mythological creatures, small models and portraits of everyday life. Students travel the world visiting other times in other places by looking at the art and artifacts that different cultures have created in clay. In this course, students develop their skills and learn new techniques for creating vessels that serve a variety of purposes. Some pieces are glazed; others are painted or embellished with different materials. If you are experienced in using clay, or have never used it before, pack your bags and come along on this trip.

Course Description

Experimental Drawing Grades 9-12. For the student who needs to round out core drawing skills but wants to do it in the most innovative, fun, exploratory way imaginable, this course is for you! Through experimental drawing using unusual/non-traditional materials and creative art problems set up by the instructor, students gain a repertoire of essential tools and skills for drawing. This course provides students with a strong foundation in contour line, creating value, perspective, mark-making, and sighting as essential tools to render accurately. With this toolbox mastered, students will feel confident that they can draw anything!
