SCHEDULE INCLUDES -- Before Care 8:00 - 9:30 am; Morning Course: 9:30 am - 12 noon; Mid-day Activities 12 noon - 1:00 pm; Afternoon Course: 1:00 - 3:30 pm; After Care 3:30 - 6:00 pm. What Do You See? Grades K-2. Get ready to see the world in a whole new way! This course offers the child a variety of exciting art experiences based upon explorations of his/her immediate world. The child-artists are encouraged to explore the world through experiencing texture, color, line, and shape through use of movement, touch, and sight. Using a variety of drawing media, the child translates his/her world through expressive mark-making and line. From very small to very large drawings, individual work to collaborative murals, this course will open up a world of possibilities.

Course Description

SCHEDULE INCLUDES -- Before Care 8:00 - 9:30 am; Morning Course: 9:30 am - 12 noon -- ; Mid-day Activities: 12 noon - 1:00 pm; Afternoon Course: 1:00 - 3:30 pm; After Care 3:30 - 6:00 pm. Art from Many Hands, Many Cultures Grades 3-5. Do you love to travel to places you have never seen before? This course is a visual journey to all corners of the world. Students open their eyes to the colors, textures and styles of the peoples and places from every continent. From the most remote mountains to bustling cities, students explore the contrasts and similarities of cultures and places around the globe. Working with their travel companions, students collaborate with classmates to select the places to which they will journey, creating art along the way. From Mexican bark-painting, African masks, South American patterns and much, much more, students will create art inspired by the styles and materials of other places.

NCYP LS608: Late Summer One Week Session Grades 6-8 Location: Mt. Royal Campus $535.00

Course Description

SCHEDULE INCLUDES -- Before Care 8:00 - 9:30 am; Morning Course: 9:30 am - 12 noon -- ; Mid-day Activities: 12 noon - 1:00 pm; Afternoon Course: 1:00 - 3:30 pm; After Care 3:30 - 6:00 pm. Draw Like Da Vinci Grades 6-8. Leonardo da Vinci's keen eye and innovative mind led him to generate countless sketches of his observations, ideas, and inventions. In careful detail, he visualized ideas and explored the unique qualities of animals, machines, plants, bones, and other man-made and natural forms through observational drawing. Drawing was used as a means to understand the world better. In this course, students step into his creative mind and try to see the world as he did. In doing so, they will "draw like Da Vinci" and explore the varied ways line can be used to experience and understand the world visually.

NCYP LS912: Late Summer One Week Session Grades 9-12 Location: Mt. Royal Campus $535.00

Course Description

SCHEDULE INCLUDES -- Before Care 8:00 - 9:30 am; Morning Course: 9:30 am - 12 noon -- ; Mid-day Activities: 12 noon - 1:00 pm; Afternoon Course: 1:00 - 3:30 pm; After Care 3:30 - 6:00 pm. Advanced Digital Photography Grades 9-12. This course is for students who understand the basic functions for the digital camera through previous experience. Students will expand on compositional principles to create a series or body of work personal narratives and a series of work. As the course progresses, the class explores the Adobe Photoshop program as a tool to refine images and explore options in manipulating imagery for expressive purposes. This course takes place in a Macintosh graphics lab. Students will be required to take images on the MICA campus as well as capture images outside of class for use on the computer. NOTE: students must bring their digital cameras to each class.
